The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1:

3:05pm- Day 2: The Rich Zeoli Show is broadcasting from the Republican National Committee Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Last night, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump made his first public appearance since the assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania.

3:10pm- Bob Menendez Convicted: Nicholas Fandos, Tracey Tully, and Benjamin Weiser of The New York Times write: “Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey was convicted on all counts in a sweeping scheme to sell his office to foreign powers and crooked businessmen in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, a luxury car and bars of solid gold. A jury of 12 New Yorkers convicted him of all 16 counts he faced, on charges including honest services wire fraud, bribery and extortion. Their verdict makes Mr. Menendez, a Democrat whose term expires at year’s end, only the seventh sitting U.S. senator to be convicted of a federal crime.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/07/16/nyregion/bob-menendez-verdict

Vance described what it was like learning he would be Donald Trump’s selection for Vice President—Trump even talked to Vance’s young son over the phone! During the conversation, Vance explained how he went from someone skeptical of Trump in 2016 to becoming his running mate. He originally “bought into the media’s lies and distortions” but changed his mind about Trump when he saw the effectiveness of Trump’s policies.

3:30pm- On Monday, CNN’s Chris Wallace called Donald Trump’s arrival at the RNC Convention one of the most electric moments he can ever recall at a nominating convention. It was the former president’s first public appearance since he was nearly assassinated in Butler, PA.

3:35pm- Speaking at the RNC Convention on Monday, Sean O’Brien—President of the International Brotherhood of Teamster—said that “in light of what happened” to Donald Trump over the weekend “he has proven to be one tough SOB.”

3:40pm-While speaking with ABC News Correspondent Pierre Thomas, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said the “buck stops with me”—but that she will not be stepping down despite the failures of her agency during Saturday’s Trump campaign rally in Butler, PA.
