Nonkululeko Khumalo popularly known as NONKHU is an Afro-Pop artist from Mamelodi, a township in Pretoria near Johannesburg in South Africa. She started singing at a young age, she was a member of Roman Catholic Church Choir near her home.
After completing her matric she furthered her studies in Dubai. She was encouraged by her father Rev. Louis Khumalo to become a solo artist without becoming a backing vocalist for other artists like most musicians do. Her father spotted her talent, moreover he is a musicologist himself who studied music at Salt Lake City in the State of Utah in America.
The repertoire in the includes popular artists from the African Continent like Fela Kuti from Nigeria; Wes Madiko from Cameroon; Habida from Kenya; Lady Jay Dee from Tanzania; B1 from Zambia and Ladysmith Black Mambazo from South Africa.
