On this episode of Recovery Through Christ, Pastor Jon Alworth continues his in-depth look at how the 12-Step recovery model is rooted in biblical scripture and Christian principles. Discussing why addiction is the world's longest-running pandemic—affecting millions of lives across Southeast Texas and beyond—Pastor Alworth emphasizes that true freedom and permanent deliverance are found by placing Jesus Christ at the center of recovery.

In this episode, Pastor Alworth breaks down the foundational steps that break the cycle of secret shame and guilt:
Recap of Steps 1–3: Honesty, Hope, and Faith—admitting our powerlessness without Christ and surrendering our lives to Him.
Step 4 (Courage): Making a searching and fearless moral inventory. Taking an "ego buster" look at pride, resentments, anger, and fear, and asking God to reveal what needs to be confessed, repented of, and forsaken (Lamentations 3:40).
Step 5 (Integrity): Confessing the exact nature of our wrongs to God, ourselves, and another Christian believer—bringing secrets into the light to experience genuine healing and freedom (James 5:16, 1 John 1:9).
