On this episode of Recovery Through Christ, Pastor Jon Alworth dives into the biblical foundation of the 12-Step recovery process. Unpacking how the original 12 Steps originated from Christian principles and the Oxford Group, Pastor Alworth explains why true, lasting freedom from addiction—and all forms of bondage—comes from placing Jesus Christ squarely in the middle of recovery.
Pastor Alworth breaks down the first three essential steps:
Step 1 (Honesty): Moving past denial, overcoming pride, and recognizing our powerlessness without Christ (Romans 6:16, 7:18).
Step 2 (Hope): Believing that through Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, complete restoration is possible (Romans 8:2).
Step 3 (Faith): Making the decision to surrender our lives fully to Christ without reservation.

Whether you or a loved one is struggling with addiction, anxiety, pride, or grief, this episode offers practical biblical truth and the hope of healing in Jesus' name.
