Here's a truth none of us like to admit: envy can eat us alive. If comparison were damaging your relationships, would you even know? Comparison can sneak into relationships through social media, family, friendships, careers, and even the quiet belief that someone else’s blessing should have been yours. Here's the question: What if the thing you’re praying for isn’t the real issue?

This episode is about how envy damages connection, distorts our motives, and turns our spouse, our marriage, or God into the source of our discontent. I share my story about how my neighbors copied our recent home renovation and how that became a revealing look at old wounds, entitlement, and the frustration of feeling imitated.

But what if there was a better response: contentment. Instead of fixating on what’s missing, what if you consider what you love about your life or your marriage, what you’re experiencing that you once prayed for, and what you believe the next achievement or relationship change will give you?

Key Takeaways

Comparison can move in both directions. You can feel inferior or superior to others

How envy often reveals a scarcity mindset

Why contentment is the antidote to comparison

Four honest questions to ask yourself if you're struggling with comparison
