JACK SMITH FACES HEAT, SCOTUS TAKES AR-15 FIGHT | JUST THE NEWS - NO NOISE

Should Jack Smith face prosecution? Former special counsel Jack Smith testified under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 29, 2026, standing by both Trump indictments and saying his team developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt. He told senators he will not be silenced by threats of prosecution. House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan has referred Smith to the Justice Department over alleged false statements to Congress; DOJ says it is reviewing and has not decided on charges. Florida prosecutors have also subpoenaed former FBI agents tied to the 2022 Mar-a-Lago search.

Gun rights hit the SCOTUS docket. The Court has granted and consolidated Viramontes v. Cook County and Grant v. Higgins, with argument set for December 2, 2026, on whether the Second Amendment protects AR-15-platform and similar semi-automatic rifles in common use. That follows June 2026 rulings striking down Hawaii’s default ban on licensed carry onto private property and limiting the federal gun ban for unlawful drug users in United States v. Hemani. On October 5 the Court declined a separate felon-in-possession challenge.

John Solomon and Amanda Head break it down with Rep. Warren Davidson and former FBI official Rob Chadwick.
