Steve Bannon is joined by Todd Bensman (Heritage Foundation) and Shannon Everett (American Truckers United) as the 25th anniversary of 9/11 approaches and the fight over who is allowed behind the wheel of America’s 80,000-pound rigs explodes.
Bensman argues upcoming 9/11 retrospectives will downplay the attackers’ Islamist motivation even as the 9/11 Commission Report put radical Islam at the center of the plot. He says the threat never vanished—plots still form, and better disruption, not disappearance of the ideology, is why fewer attacks succeed. Bannon presses the Commission’s redactions, Saudi questions, and post-9/11 wars. Bensman holds the core finding on motive. They tie the record to CAIR’s unindicted co-conspirator status in the Holy Land Foundation case and to the southern border as a terrorist-entry vulnerability, not only an immigration story.
Everett rejects the claim that foreign-born or undocumented drivers cause only about 1% of fatal truck crashes, saying crash reports rarely capture immigration status. He points to CDL mills, English-language failures, non-domiciled licenses, and employment-authorization loopholes. Bannon and Everett say cheaper immigrant labor has crushed wages and that there is no real shortage of American drivers. They flag “chameleon” carriers, drivers who flee after wrecks, and Bannon’s harder line: restrict commercial licenses to U.S. citizens. Everett frames citizen trucking as national security—food, fuel, and military cargo move on those roads.
