California lawmakers have unanimously approved a plan to pay incarcerated firefighters the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour while fighting active fires, a raise of more than 700%. The bill, Assembly Bill 247 (Asmb. Isaac Bryan D-Culver City), aims to ensure that nobody risking their life for others earns less than the federal minimum wage. Callers react to the pay raise.
