DT - Nonni Ceramics June 8

Shanon Ristow was born in the Philippines, she came to Australia with her sister and parents when she was just 4 years old. Her Mum is from Cebu while her Aussie Dad is from Melbourne. After finishing High School, she travelled, went to work at different areas in hospitality and admin work, wanting to try and experience different things before committing to a tertiary education.

Coming from an entrepreneurial family, her goal has always been to run her own business. This chance came one day when she attended a free pottery class, she enjoyed it so much that she decided to further develop some pottery techniques thru youtube videos. After a year of practicing, Shanon started her pottery business 6 months ago, calling it Nonni Ceramics.

With her love of experiencing and trying new things and meeting new people, she decided to move to the Philippines and work in their family business for at least 2 years and explore another creative journey. A week after our interview, she flew to the Philippines to begin reconnecting with her Filipino roots, learn the language and immerse herself in the community.
