3 year study reveals success in sports hernia repairs

Sports hernia describes the chronic groin pain that many sports people fall victim to, especially if their sport involves kicking or sudden pivoting. Watchout soccer, AFL and rugby players! But while painful for players and hard to diagnose, a three year study has revealed success in a variety of surgical approaches categorised as “inguinal hernia repairs”. Hernia Institute of Australia researcher Dr Omar Rodrigues-Acevedo brings us up to date.
