Juliette is giving credit where it's due to Kristen Doute who's made the greatest reality TV comeback of the year, going from the villain to winning at life. She also talks about LVP's newest venture, why Schwartz's latest social media post is so toxic and breaks down other headlines involving everyone from James and Ally to Scheana and Brock.
Well, hello, welcome back to another episode of Going Rogue. I'm Juliette Harris, publicist and I guess podcaster are here doing these episodes. So I'm really analyzing the PR of VPR and what's next because obviously, still at this moment, the shake up news is still everywhere.
It's everything.
It's still on all the blogs and the magazines, it's still all of the OG's talking about it, and we're going to dig into some of those headlines. Right Let's start with Glamour magazine talking about Kristin and the bittersweet band of prompt rules shake up but yet her own happy ending, which you know, this is one of the best things about Hollywood as a whole is they always love a Cinderella story.
They always love a comeback.
Kristin was like the mortal enemy for how long and fired by Bravo and now she's a darling. It really matters a what cachet and ability you have in garnering headlines and press and likes and all of these things now that matter, and she's good at it and people like her, and Bravo obviously has embraced her back. And now she has not only announced her pregnancy, but she's also announced the gender. They had a gender reveal. If you don't want to hear, close your ears, because I'm gonna say it's a girl. Not it girl, but it's a girl. So yes, they are having a girl. And Kristin spoke to Glamor about reflecting on her journey and that it's bittersweet, and you know, I think, no matter what Kristin feels wrong, she stands by the things, the many things she said and did, including her issues with James Kennedy and.
Feeling like she got silenced by the network. But I'm going to use her as an example and say, at the end of.
The day, time heals the wounds and money and a job make it look the other way or help you get past it. And that's not fair of me to say to her. She's not looking the other way. She's never backed down, but she was willing to come to enough peace with the network to move forward right, and she was able to forgive Arianna and forge a friendship that is an actual real friendship to date. So it's very interesting about, you know, the different way people approach these different scenarios. So you know, she is grateful for her time with vander Pump and obviously it's brought her the podcast, right she wouldn't have her podcast, which is doing very well without her experiences, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and she's recognized that she's leaned into them. And now she's in her mommy era. She's got a wedding to plan, a baby to deliver, you know, a whole new section of life that that takes on a life of its own, and she's currently doing The Valley, which is a good fit. It makes sense, so you know, I think that the funniest thing she said is that.
All of the new cast members for Van der Putmme.
Rules would never have survived the asylum she grew up in, which I thought was a great a great line and a great sentiment. So yes, I think that we're gonna wish Kristin a lot of good luck right now. She's matured a lot from her time on the show. She's got an amazing feature aead of her. I think they'll continue to do their podcast. They've been doing very well with that and she's gonna ride this way as long as she can, as she should. So congrats to them and their new up and coming Baby Girl. Tom Schwartz is in the headline with US Weekly and he talked about.
Having mixed emotions.
With the cast overhaul, and you know, he basically declared the ending of season eleven and is toxic. And I think he would have liked and believes there should have been another episode. I'm sorry, another season, whether it was a shorter amount of episodes or whatever, but something to recognize the Ogs, where they are, what they're doing now, what's next for them, and transition into to the new one. And a lot of people feel that way. I think a lot of fans feel that way too. One blogger I heard talking about it said that he thought that there should have been sort of a closing, let's say six four to six episodes of wrapping up the Ogs and where they are now and what they're doing, alongside of having let's say, a dinner at sir and having the new cast serving them, which I think is not a bad idea, but what I do think, and I'm going to pat myself on the back because I feel like my predictions over the last couple of weeks have been pretty accurate, and a lot of the cast coming out have said a lot of things I predicted, but I'm going to make a prediction now again and see if it sticks or I for we're right or wrong. But I think that for this first season, they're going to try to keep it as pure as they can to the new cast and the new concept because Vanderpunt Rules as we know it with the Ogs had moved on twelve seasons later, so far from where it started, where there were real servers at SIR and their relationships from that restaurant business, and now it moved very much into the individual people's lives and it didn't have that base of the restaurants. They all have different restaurants at different projects, which is all great, but to the heart of what Lisa wanted and where the hard herb businesses are, they revolve around these restaurants and the lifestyle that comes along with it. So I think because there was so much toxicity, because there were a lot of mixed reactions to the reunion in the last season, I think they're going to keep the first season really pure, and I think they're going to do that to see how it stands on its own. That doesn't mean they won't eventually tap into the Ogs if they feel like they're not getting their ratings or they need a boost, they are.
Going to.
They'll tap into somebody as need be. But I do think for this first one they are really going to try to do keeping it pure, getting people to know the cast members, fall in love with them, hate them, let them play their roles, bring it back to the restaurants and the dynamic that happens when you work together and you sleep together, and all those sort of things that has happened. So I think that it was time for fresh right, And I think we're going to see in these next couple of headlines we're going to talk about. I think Andy agreed with that, Lisa agreed with that, but I am sure for I mean Tom Schwartz waking up and what do you do today? Right? Where? Where's Where's next? Where where's my head at? In this particular cast, also, they really self produce. They self produce them else they self produce storyline in the direction and bringing things to the table, which on one side is great, right because a network doesn't necessarily have to pay for those ideas or create them themselves.
When everyone's kind of contributing and bringing.
Chaos in their life, it sort of sets the destiny for the story.
The downside of that is they lost.
Control, right and then everything went haywire, and then everything took a life of its own. Right now, they've got a young group of people that are hungry to be on TV.
They come at a way lesser price.
They're hoping they bring the drama, but it's going to be a different level of drama. It's that typical sort of lighter drama. We got real heavy on the last seasons of Band of part Rules as it was, so yes, I think for somebody like Tom, although it's already he's it's already been reported that he is actually makes some appearances on the Valley and that he's got some other things in the works. And again to requote myself intellectual property, IP, you've got these people that are our ogs, that have a fan base. You are gonna you love them. They didn't have a bad negative parting, so Bravo Production, They're gonna look for spaces to put these people, and these people are looking for their next job. I think the thing that's probably really horrible for all of them if it came as suddenly as it did. Now, don't get me wrong, I think the world's a lot of clues along the way. I think it was finalized, perhaps in a little bit more of a shocking way, and perhaps that was to keep certain things under wraps for as long.
As they could.
And perhaps it was because there was still a lot of negotiations happening. Maybe they were going to bring back a few We still don't know the real heart of that. We know and Lisa has confirmed that the og cast was making a lot more money than these newbies will be making, and so it's a lot cheaper for the show to go on and more manageable and less through vitual and stipulations of who's going to film with who or who's willing to do what with who, So, you know, I think that Obviously, Schwartz also blamed Scandaval and look, at the end of the day, it's interesting Scannibal blew these people up, so let's not, you know, knock it completely. It definitely was devastating for the individuals and for the fans that were vested in it. But at the end of the day, it brought the show another season because it was about to be canceled. It brought record breaking press and headlines and Arianna is the biggest winner out of it. She was already over Tom and barely in a relationship, and now she's America's sweetheart, so good for her. And then everybody else that sort of leaned into it. They still made money, They had commercials, they had appearances at award shows and other commercials and songs and books, and you know, there's all this stuff that came out of it for a majority of those people.
So yes, I can't. I I also wouldn't say.
That it alone decimated the show, because how people reacted to it and the relationships that came out of it, that's what decimated the show. Let's just say again, Ariana and Tom had a breakup, and let's.
Say Ariana never wanted to talk to Tom again. That's fine.
The rest of everybody leaning into it and making it so much about them, and you know, kind of about this overstated friend group I think really led to it. And at any point they could have apologized, They could have had the conversations, because look at Kristen and Ariana and look at you know, all these other relationships that you know, people cheated and some people stood by other people.
They could have made different choices as a result.
Of it. They couldn't change the affair, but they could have made different choices on how they handled it. So I can't say you can just look at one thing and blame that it was the end of the show or the end.
Of the air. Was it a catalyst, you bet. Did it spark the fire?
Sure, But the way that everybody reacted and moved on from it was in their power. And I believe that that's what they were hoping was going to happen in that last season. I believe they were hoping, have the arguments, have it out, build the bridges, make you know, get past it. Let's figure out where we can carry to this next spot. But instead they got heels in the sand, nobody moving, nobody, budgeting more arguments, nobody, filming with nobody, hop dollar to film with nobody.
I just don't think they had a place to go from there.
And now they've got all fresh faces. Next headline, Lisa Vanderpump says everything's couture at brand new Pinkies Las Vegas. Lisa's doing what Lisa does, and she's branding restaurants and left and right and shows left and right and doing very very well. So the Grand opening, which was on December fifth, featured Vegas girls, elaborate costumes, live cabaret performances, and embodied the venue's Art Deco inspired theme. She said that her her vision for Pinkies says that it feels timeless. So I think she's very proud and excited about this one and plot twist. She is in business with her daughter, Pandora, so that is going to be very interesting. I'm sure that's going to be its own dynamic in itself right. The menu offers creatively named cocktails like less Espresso, More Expresso, and Daddy Issues, enhancing the vibrant and flavable dining experience. She's in this one. She's partnered with Caesar's Entertainment. You know, that's not a little partner. That's a pretty big partner. So kudos to her on that new partnership, partnership and being a part of the Las Vegas strip that's pretty iconic. So we'll stay tuned to see what's what's happening on that one. Another headline, I think this was kind of funny. Ariana Maddox is relieved about VPR shakeup news and welcomes newcast to film and her new sandwich shop.
Right there is everything. These people are. Show's over. I've moved on. Hey, but include my restaurant in your upcoming season. And I'm not knocking that. I'm not saying that's a bad thing.
These people, the ways their brains are working and condition have being been in Hollywood and grown up on TV. They know where to make the next dollar, and their next dollar is still wrapped around who they are, the Vanderpump universe and the fan verse. And why not if she can get the cast in there and bring more people in the door. Remember, all of these restaurants were using the show. The show was a commercial for all these other businesses basically, so that is something I am sure they're all worried about. And now she's saying, hey, come on in and record at my establishment or Katie's in my establishment, and and you know, gives a little plug in there.
So good for her for bringing it up.
I think apparently she is not going to be on the spin off at all on the Valley, but she is looking at many many other projects, including Broadway. Two other things about Arianna, She's spoken depth, which she hasn't done very much of on The Boyfriend Daniel and really saying how good he treats her, And you know, I think that was double edged as it is for all of us that get dumped. And you know, chat on in a relationship is that she was there was a dig to her past relationships that they sucked not good people, and that her current one is really fulfilling and giving her what she needs.
So happy for her.
There in other headlines with Ariana, he's living her best life and you know it's it's unfortanate. She's got two lawsuits simultaneously happening, right, So that's going to be not fun. And you know, we'll see what happens with this one, what evidence is presented, and we'll be able to make, you know, a much more educated opinion at that point. But like I said, I was encourage people, you have your opinions, have fun, but remember at some point the actual evidence is going to come into play, and then that's when and the law, the law is not clear, it's not ever written in a way that is common sense to people, So you know, it's based on precedence, what's happened before, and then the evidence at hand, and then how closely your situation relates to the way the laws are written, so it's pretty tricky. Fascinating but tricky. So we'll stay tuned to see what happens. Next year is going to be a oh actually on that, so I guess the judge pushed it to twenty twenty six, so she won't even have her court date till twenty twenty six, which is I think just a testament to how backed up the court systems are. Okay, who would have seen this one coming? Peter Madrigal, I don't know if I say his name right, Peter Madgical, but Peter claims he's the only original Vander Pump Rules star returning for a reboot.
Now, it wasn't not long.
Ago, but before he was saying, you know, he wasn't even offered pay other than his job pay as a manager, so he wasn't even getting paid for television, and when he asked for money and asked for a raise, he was denied that opportunity. But yet here he's the only surviving OG on the new reboot, So I find that interesting. Now whether he's getting paid to participate in the show right now, or if he's still getting paid just for his manager gig and Will appear in the show that's gonna well, I'm sure that'll come out.
You fans, you guys will investigate and figure it out.
But he also weighed into his reasoning why and said that he felt, you know, it had a lot to do with the relationship's demises, but he said he was open to doing possible collaborations with former castmates for his reality network channel. So that'll be very interesting to see how Peter hangs in there and where he shows up and comes out. Next headline, vander Pump Rules star Ali Luber says relationship with James Kennedy is better than ever a mid reboot.
Huh, that's interesting. This is with the New York Post.
Yeah, we'll have to see a couple things how that relationship goes without a show or a job on the line at television job. I know Ali's figuring out her stuff with music and tarrort reading, Tarrett card reading, and James is djaying. Now it'll be And I'm not knocking him as a DJ. Don't know if he's good or bad. What I am saying though, is very interesting to see if he is still relevant as a DJ not being on TV, so his gigs could suffer. But then again, on the other side, they're the two youngest on the og cast and they very possibly could fit in. Maybe he is bartending at sir around these new people. Again, I don't think that's likely because I think they want a fresh break, a clean break, But he kind of makes sense in that space.
So we're going to have to wait and see.
Ali continued to express support for the potential new cast members and was optimistic about the show's fresh direction.
So, look, they're all being really good sports.
About it, and that could also be because they know what's happening behind the scenes. They might already have some gigs, they might you know, know what's next on their plate, and and we just don't know yet. It does seem like most of them are all at peace with the change, not that they had control over it, right, that's it is what it is, and none of them are stupid. As a new opportunity comes up, they will all jump at it. Uh, so, you know, nobody's and then all those all these ones that have podcasts are going to continue to have podcasts, and they're all let's just put it this way, fast forward to the new when the when the new season premieres. All the ogs are going to be able to talk to all the podcasters their own or be guests and talk about what's different and what we can expect and what would so and so do or what I would have done in those shoes, or what they can expect. So the the vander Pump universe is not going anywhere, and nor are the ogs. They're going to be around. I will say we did get a little news on Remember we talked about Lala and Jessica and Lala's podcast and her letting Jessica go, and you know what were those reasons? And I think we kind of it kind of came to the consensus that without the show and income, she wants to be careful and doesn't want to keep spending. But what has also come to light is apparently Jessica is going to have her own podcast. And what I find really funny about that is once again the podcast universe is sort of trashing on this girl and saying, oh, look at you, capitalizing your fifteen minutes of fame. They've all done that. Whoever can get it, get it while you can use it, while you can, don't hurt other people, and just roll with it. I mean, that's what they're all doing. So to say she doesn't have the right to have a podcast or nobody should give her the time of day, that's silly.
That's silly.
So but it will be interesting to see what she talks about. I don't know if it'll be Vanderpunt related or not. So one thing that was quite funny. Another little bleap of a headline which was quite funny was andy I think, what's that song Mary Killer Keep or Mary Killer Date? He did one of those and basically came to the assumption that he would quote sleep with Jack's and see what all the fuss is about. That did kind of make me laugh. I don't really, I don't know. I don't see you know, Jack's appeal and that all of this, it just seems troubled. And I think the hype is that, you know, he was He's very mouthy and he talks about and he puts it all out there, so I think that's more hype than an actual appeal. But I did find that quite funny, and I think kind of finally is well, no two more. I have two more quick quick little ones. One well, I think I can't remember if I mentioned this last week. But apparently Sheena is angling for a spin off for her in Brock, so I find that interesting. And as she was the catalyst for this first for this one from her cheating scandal, anything's a possibility. She's been there for twelve seasons. She's in og maybe she gets one.
I don't know.
We'll have to wait and see on that one. And on her podcast Shenanigans, which I don't predict will go anywhere, she was talking about Laala Lala's went on her podcast and Lala said she is known for burning a few bridges and that she sort of kind of lit the match and walked away. And some people were saying, you know, they were very surprised that she was willing to discard these relationships over small things. And I remind everybody not all of these friendships are real. Some of them are real, and then some of them are really just for television. And you know, when you go to work, you have you might have a friend from the office that really has organically become a friend, and you also have office friends that you just do office sort of things with, or you might go grab a beer, or you all go to the same party and your friend Lee, But that does not mean that you have a trusting, loving relationship with these people. The same with this group that were you know, thrust together, have true friendships. Some are really more like work friendships or acquaintances. And I just don't think Lala cares. Lala's like she's got her friends. The rest she just doesn't care about. She's like, let it rip. And then finally, the last one for today is Katie saying that she had no intention on going back, and you know what else do you say? You don't you're not going back and you were just fired and everybody was and everybody was supposedly surprised. You know, if Arianna got a spin off for the show for the for something about her, would Katie be a part of it? Start straight that she's she's not gonna walk away from that. You know, she had probably one of the more frustrating seasons and less airtime and kind of a support role to Ariana. So maybe she was thinking about it, but had the show come back and said we're going to do one more season, or we're going to do six episodes where we wrap everything.
Up, she would have been there. That's what I think.
Okay, Well, I think that kind of does it for this week's headlines and kind of the rumors around vander pump Rule and the ogs, and super excited to see about the new people and see if any of my predictions are accurate or wrong with the ogs making appearances. So anyways, thank you for joining, and until next time, have a great week.
