Rachel’s publicist Juliette Harris is taking over the mic and responding to Tom Sandoval’s latest comments saying Rachel tried to get him to blame NBC Universal for their affair. She also explains what’s going on behind the scenes with the cast’s contract negotiations and what fans can expect if there is a next season.
Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Going Rogue. I am Juliette Harris, and today we're going to be covering different headlines and vander Pumm Rules headlines, and let's get into it. Okay. So this first headline, all the cast beef around the vander put Rules salaries and how much they're actually worth. Vander put Rules cast net worths reveal major disparities, with notable stars like Lisa vander Pump leading in wealth while others like Tom and Ariana have achieved moderate success obviously boosted by scannabal salaries very reflecting each cast member's level of fame and involvement. So they've been all kind of bickering about salaries behind the scenes. And we say this a lot in series. I mean, if you guys remember there was huge fighting between the cast and production and they sort of went on strike until they got what they wanted in it was big dollars. So I understand in any situation, you know, fighting for the most that you can get. And then, of course Rachel was misquoted when she said she didn't make any money. What she meant was she wasn't making money off of the scandal. Where everybody else sort of jumped in to do it. But she did explain how when she started, because she was a girlfriend, she had the smallest amount of salary for a couple of seasons. And when you get that salary, which maybe like fifteen and twenty thousand an episode, what people don't know is hair, makeup, clothes, location, all that stuff comes out of their pocket. So even if you're Arian and Tom, which obviously you know them having their their house as a set if you will was a big deal because you know they didn't nobody had to pay out of pocket expenses which comes off the salary. So something to be aware of when these people are making the kind of money they they do have a lot of expenses that are coming out as well. And then Lalla and I don't think Laala's alone. Laala and some other talent have also spoken about the incentive that lies behind right. So for example, if you cause more drama, you cause a spike in viewership, you cause a great storyline. If you contribute, they do incentivize you. Also, they what is that saying, giveth he take it away? If you are not, If you are boring and not contributing, you get in jeopardy of being demoted, and we've seen that where you could be suddenly a friend or a supporting cast member, And the rumors were for Tom that they were going to actually demote Ariana right before scanvall. So I find that fascinating and then you see the turnaround, and that's the part of the pr that I love. I do think at the end of the day, Bravo and the production company and the network just even in saying that that's three entities beside the talent that get paid off of a show, right, plus the costs. So at the end of the day, it's a business and they've got to make a decision that it makes money. In one of the key points in reality TV is they they're the least expensive to make. And then you see some of these things getting like, you know, they'll go film on location. When they film on location, those are sponsored by the location, so that's a little bit of money, less money for production when they go to you know, some cool resort or whatever, those those expenses get covered. So I feel that will the show continue or not is going to really come down to two things. Out of the cast members, who is signed on and number two does it make sense financially for them because they are all kind of out growing the you know, those initial salaries, and they feel they've contributed a lot and their brand is tied to it. So it's fascinating. I think most people know this, but just in case, something else that's fascinating that's tied to their salaries in the brand when it comes to these reality shows is that when they do their side businesses like Arianna does her books or things like that, you know, Bravo gets a cut of that, and it's a matter if they choose to enforce it or not, but it is in the contracts that because the show helped build their brand and they helped build the show's brand, they look at it as mutually beneficial for the way that they can make money. So I don't know at the end of the day, it's going to come down to the numbers. My prediction is this. First of all, we're seeing them all in the media and they're all starting the chatter. So there's two things about that. Number One, it's probably that they're teasing and leading up to the fact that you know they're filming. Number two is that it also you strike while the iron is hot, while there's still buzz, those press bites, those little pr opportunities still yield more job opportunities and more money in the you know, while you're hot, you're hot, and you get more job offers. So I think that even Arianna, who I have said in the past, has outgrown the show in my opinion, if it works out for her schedule, why would she not because she's still going to get paid. She still gets the opportunity for FaceTime, which leads to other things for her. She's got more power, so she's going to do things more on her terms, like we already have seen. So I do think that the show will go still. I do think money has a lot to do with what's going on, And I'm sure they are still negotiated. When that last season that they were asking Rachel to come back, I mean, the other people had already started filming and they didn't have an answer from us, and as we still continued to say, we didn't know, and we didn't know it was going to work for her, and you know, was there going to be mental health advocates on set and things like that While we were still in the negotiating, they were filming, not knowing if she was coming back or not. So I do believe they're probably sorting out those that have signed on, and they might still be fighting a little bit or negotiating a little bit with people on money. But at the end of the day, this cast knows that this show is coming to an end, and so they're going to take whatever pennies they can get off of it and do whatever else they can do to parley it into something else. So that's my opinion on where things stand and where things are going to go. I do still think the fans are hungry for it. I do think the ratings still work, so as long as the finances work out, I think it'll all come together. Okay. Next headline, Shina shares her candid thoughts on Katie's boyfriend. Sina went on her podcast to speak about meeting Katie's boyfriend and had very nice things to say about him with conversations with some mutual friends. He's from San Diego and then I ran in to him later back at the hotel and he was just a really sweet guy. So again I feel that, you know, Bravo's very unique in the way that they let the talent, you know, get out there and this talent in particular with all their own podcasts and shootoffs. They are very vocal all the time, and so whether they're saying something good or whether they're saying something negative, it gets them all aheadline. The Bravo fans are ravenous for information, so that keeps them connected to the Bravo fans. It's a very clever and unique communications platform, the yiding in yang that works between the fans and the cast and how it ultimately translates into the show. Fans, you all think you've got ownership, and I think that's something that Bravo does very well because they stay connected. Plus they use the bloggers, which is also fascinating, which I'm going to touch on a little bit later too. So it's really this community around the show and if they can keep the storylines interesting, the buzz is definitely still there because the cast is out there still creating it. So look, at the end of the day, boyfriend is a big word for somebody that just starts dating. I don't know how long they've been dating, but you know what happens in Hollywood, and especially if there's somebody that's kind of outside of Hollywood. Sometimes they get spooked, and if there's somebody inside of Hollywood, sometimes they're using each other for headlines. So relationships are very difficult in the public eye. So again them coming out and talking and you know she no being involved, it gets complicated. But look, I don't know the facts there, So I hope she has a nice boyfriend. I hope he treats her well, and I hope it works out. You know, it is interesting if you look at the schematics. If Katie's got a boyfriend that can get her away from talking about Schwartz, there can be drama between Shorts and the new boyfriend. Tom brings on his new girl. Now you've got some more characters and some more depth. When they were asking Rachel to come back on, one of the things that was interesting was, you know, who's she going to hang out with and who's she going to bring on? And it was complicated for her besides you know, many other layers. But she had a lot of friends, like we spoke about last time, that you know, had been harassed because they were friends and they were normal people, so they didn't want to go on TV. So she had to try to find TV friends or TV people and that is difficult. It's not natural or organic. So you know, with these relationships, who knows, who knows if they were brought on because they needed the you know, each character, each main character needed a depth. I mean, in all reality, that's why Rachel was brought on, right because James needed a girlfriend. James found Rachel on the Internet, I believe, I think, and then you know, she's like, okay, I'll sure whatever. But so all of these people, some are hungry and some are okay, maybe it'll be okay. So that will definitely bring new blood, new juice, new drama. If they all have some new significant others that are not or you know, best friends or supporting characters. However you want to look at it. So if the relationship lasts or they can make it work, I'm sure the new boyfriend slash friend will be on the show as well. Okay, next one. This is always interesting to me. Lisa Vanner Pump pushed out Evander Pump Rules as Bravo attempts to minimize her involvement with filming. This is from the son who I love the Sun. However, they're not always one hundred percent at Cane rint with the facts, but they're great anyway. Lisa vander Pump is being pushed out of her show, it has been claimed. Despite being executive producer of the reality show since the series premiere in twenty thirteen, Lisa's role has changed significantly in recent years. The show is currently on a hiatus, but sources told The Son that Bravo is still planning to green light at least one more season. Now. Look, so it's got her name on it, so she's always gonna draw a paycheck. She is an EP, so she's always going to draw a paycheck. I mean, it depends on the schematics of the show. And look, the producers and the companies behind it, they kind of know who gets what reaction. There's contracts to consider, So what does her contract say, What does Ken's contract say. There'll be negotiations on the money. You know, is it a little bit of an outdated formula that she kind of pops in and does a check in on everybody, and you know, plays the mother hen and then goes, maybe maybe it is. She's got multiple other shows she's certainly not hurting. Plus new restaurants, new partnerships she's opening, So I think I don't think they're going to change her And if they change the name, it's complete and total rebrand of the show entirely, and the premise and everything else. So I don't think they'll change the name. If Lisa didn't show up in the show, does it matter. I don't really think it matters, because they're all individuals and they're all sort of self producing themselves too, So I think if Lisa doesn't come back, or chooses to even have less of a role, or maybe she introduces and does the reunion as an EP, I don't think it's really going to matter personally. I mean, I'm sure it'll matter to her it's got her name on it, but she still gets a paycheck, so I don't think she's going to carry this. She's moved on to other shows, so I don't think they'll change the name of the show no matter what. She'll get a paycheck no matter what, and she may, depending on the restrictions, she may negotiate to do one or two appearances in the whole season, and that'll still count her in. And let's not forget the magic of TV. I once to hit a tour with a celebrity and we changed his shirt six times in one city, and it looked like we were in a bunch of different cities, so she could film many scenes in one day and get one day one day rate. Oh and let's not forget that too. In the soap opera world, one of the things they do is they get paid per day. So what they do is a lot of times they'll try to slip in and film many episodes, many scenes in one day, so it may come out in three or four episodes, but they still get paid for one day. So the production companies are smart and they'll make it work. And you know, Lisa wants to keep her brand going, so the more appearances she does, obviously she gets paid, but it also keeps her rand alive, breaths life into it. So those are my thoughts on that. Hey. Next one, Tom Sandoval and Ariano Maddox's house going on the market after long battle. This is reported by Reality Tea the house is going on the market. Tom shared, we're selling the house, getting it ready. He confirmed, announcing that his girlfriend and he will be moving in together. So look, I think the battle about the house is twofold number one. Financially, it is an investment, right and they both want to get more out than they put in Number two. It definitely became a bit of a pissing match. Right, I'm going to stay here, you have to do this. I mean, their whole situation was wild. I have often said this, if my husband and I got in a fight, there's not a house big enough that we could stay under the same roof during that fight, Like, you just need space. So actually living there after a breakup and splitting floors and rooms and timing not to see each other, you know, I don't really believe that either, But I think the healthiest thing for them to both move on, and it's the healthiest thing for them to untangle whatever the finances are so they can get out of it and move on with their lives. And even though they're both moving on, actually we haven't heard much about Arianna and her boyfriendly, so that's kind of an interesting thing. I have to dig into that. I think his name is Daniel, right, if they're still together, but it is time for the house to go and for them to separate. And if you're the new girlfriend or the new boyfriend, do you really want to be living in the shadow of the old I think that's super uncomfortable and unhealthy to start a relationship with. So good for them if they're doing it. And you know, I think that that's one thing the fans really didn't understand. The fans are like, I don't understand how you could be so silly as to not get out of there and find a way out of there. There's always a way out. And even if one person, if you couldn't sell it right away, because you know, they're taxes and finances and whatever, they have somebody, you know, you move out, you still get out. So yes, but I guess then again, pr side, it made more drama for the show. How do you make a storyline around two people that are broken up and supposedly won't interact with each other. They still ended up doing scenes together. They so they said they wouldn't do scenes together. That was per ariana and but yet the large chunk of the show was them having to navigate around the house. So it worked for storyline, It created drama, It got people's tongues wagging off air and on the on the blogs, so you know, again it still worked. But I do think people thought it was silly and they're ready for everybody to move on. And yeah, let's not forget that the more the house was shown, the more drama there was around the house, it could drive up the price of the house. I don't I don't know how much, but we've seen a lot of celebrities houses go up in value because of it. So you know, if some Bravo fan or or some Airbnb person is like, oh, I want to have the the Bravo Tom and Ariana drama house come and stay in it for the weekend, Yeah, why wouldn't it, that would definitely drive the price up. So they're smart marketers, these people, Okay. Lala Kent shares details of her past relationship with Julian Sensley. This also is reality blurb. Lala Kent talks about Britney cart Right hooking up with Julian shortly after separating from Jax Taylor. Lala says she and Julian hooked at first, and she was the one to bring Julian around the group. That's how he became friends with Jackson Brittany. Lala ended things with Randall. She and Julian would communicate and sometimes make out. Lala ended up doing a background check on Julian and the results made hers step back because they were not in alignment. Wow, okay, and then Jax was pissed that Brittany hooked up with Julian, but then Julian because Julian and Jack's were friends, so then he stops seeing Brittany. Okay, my goodness. Los Angeles is a really big city. Why is it that this group of people in particular just date each other and friends. I mean, there's a pretty big pool out here, and there's a ton of people that want to be on TV, and there's people from all over the world that come to LA to get that break, and I'm surprised that they just keep having these same people and dating the friends, you know that saying, don't fish in the company pond, like stretch out a little bit. It's a really big place. But then let's be smart, and obviously the storyline comes first, and these people live for the storyline, so there's probably a little bit more drama attached to the fact that they dated the same person than somebody knew out there in LA. Again, I know, I always give Lalla props because I think she's smart cookie for the way that she markets, So I'm a Lalla fan in that way. Rachel Levis's lawyer hits back at Tom Sandoval's lawsuit. This also from Reality Tea, which I will actually give a nice shout out to because they did respond to me and put the retraction in also so or the quote. I'll explain it in a moment. So recently Tom hopped on his podcast and dropped some new allegations about Rachel. Her team came to my team and basically offered to drop all the charges against me if I were to blame the way the affair was found out on NBC Universal. Tom stated, So Tom would have to allegedly claim that NBC somehow put him up to it. Now in Rachel's attorneys, Brian Friedman responded, calling it an outward lie and fabrication and ridiculousness, ending by saying, once again, Tom Sandival cannot be trusted and the reasons are glaring. He also said, Tom Sandaval, who I legally and secretly recorded Rachel Levis in a sexually compromising situation without her knowledge or consent, while cheating on his girlfriend. You know, Look, so this happened in live time for me, right, so we see Tom's ridiculousness. He was quiet the whole time Rachel was on her podcast, and then when she goes off, you know, he gets on his to speak again. I don't know if that's a coincidence or not. Just to put it out there, Rachel could be a guest here any time to refute anything that she wants to refute, so you know, it's not like she can't speak. And obviously through the press and through her attorneys, she can speak, which is what happened. So we got the we saw the reporting that he said that, and I immediately reached out to the attorneys, and the attorneys immediately gave us a statement which I then sent to publications and some bloggers, and the attorneys were adamant that no such thing had happened. And you know, Tom doesn't lie in a puddle of credibility, does he, because you know, first of all, he filmed somebody without their consent. Second of all, he continues to lie, tell us all sorts of interesting stories, tell us he's going to retaliate against Rachel, which he did and is. And the attorney he had when he said he was going to file against Ariana, which taking the people out of it was actually not a dumb move. There's two ways that it works in the lawsuit, either he teams up with Ariana or he goes against Ariana and separates himself. Right, So the what the attorney, his attorney, I guess now fired suggested was not a not a bad move legally, So for Tom's public image, that was not nice, right, He'd already shot on his girlfriend and now he was going to do it again. So and he took the he ate. So he backtracked and did he really fire that attorney? Yes, it did. It's interesting too because while that was happening in lifetime, he said he'd fired his attorney and removed himself from the situation that he it was the attorney's idea. All through that time that attorney was still on staff. And the reason I know that is because when you're in a lawsuit, an attorney has to notify the attorneys on the other side that you're not still involved. So there was quite a period of time after he made the claim before that attorney did actually come off with the paperwork and notify Rachel's side. So I found that very interesting. Also, I love the legal stuff behind it is fascinating to me. So anyways, at the end of the day, Tom is just trying to make a headline, and he's still trying to hurt Rachel. I don't know why, you know, what, you were in a relationship and his little girlfriend that then comes out and bashes on Rachel. The guy your dating was not only fifty percent of that relationship, but he was also the one that was in the long term partnership. So you know, before you're going to call names, that's somebody you've never met and put blame at someone you've never met, you might want to look at the guy you're sleeping next to. At the end of the day, I don't fault any of them. They're young people. Well Tom's not young, but they're young, and they had relationships. They made mistakes, they made poor judgment. Move on. I don't know why she's still talking about it. I don't know why. I mean, I do know why. You know that Tom's still bringing up Rachel because people want to hear about Tom and Rachel. Weirdly, as much as people hated them what they did, people were weirdly rooting for them, if not just to hate them being together. So that whole part is rather fascinating. So at the end of the day, his quote. The quote that Tom gave on his podcast was to get viewers' attention and headlines, and it was completely not true. Within within hours of us hearing of it, I contacted the attorneys, and the attorney's issue a statement, and I gave that statement vehemently refuting it and telling the truth. You can't trust an established liar. So there's that. The other thing that I find personally fascinating and it's something for me that I'm learning to navigate or which is different. You know, when I started in PR their work bloggers, and there's two kinds. There are the people that are really trying to be credible and they build their headlines, you know, they build great content. But I have relationships with them where I'll call and say, you know, here's the facts, here's the lawyer's statement. Whether you posted about the first half or not, here's our side in case you do, and they are respectful and we have great you know, cambaraderie is far it professionally. And then there's the other side. There's the other side who I will not name, but they're trying so hard to be insiders and they're trying so hard to find their space that they just interpret things on the negative side because they know that the negative side gets more press. So in this statement, there's a particular person that analyzed it and decided that even with the statement with the lawyer saying what they said, that there was more to the story and he believes that Rachel was gonna drop the lawsuit. Well, I can tell you there's no truth to that whatsoever. And these these people that are just trying to make their own name by being negative and controversial, you know whatever, If that's what floats people's boats, good for them, right, And there are people that ride the negative wave for their own views and clicks, and they're not even interested in reporting truth. The funniest one was this morning where a woman, so this happened I think almost a week ago, write this whole Tom Common and our response, and this woman put out something last night that she had the tea, and you know the tea was basically she had the private tea from the attorneys. At the end of the day. It was the same statement that I'd given out. So that was kind of funny, but pop props to her forgetting attention. But then she decided that the attorneys didn't write it that I wrote it. No basis for this. Her explanation was that I had sent the quote. Well, that's my job as a publicist is to communicate between the various parties, So I didn't find that quite funny. I can assure you I did not write that quote. The attorneys wrote that quote, and those attorneys were were vehemently denying and immediately said that there was zero truth to that. So you got to take it with a grain assault. And for all of you lovely followers that are interested in the Bravosphere and all these shows, which I know means so much to you and that you really love and love to engage with people, just remember even though they might be entertaining, some of those those bloggers and writers, you know they they're making it up for content, and so just keep it, you know, with a grain assault. It's fun to enjoy something, it's fun to get in them the conspiracy theories, it's fun to play along, but just remember that they're not a news source and check out who's really being credible and trying to report both sides and remaining neutral, and then watch the ones that are just one sided. Now, if you love the people that just hate on somebody join in, good for you, but just realize, you know, it's not necessarily the truth. So that's my kind of personal take on what happened with this last little bit of scandal, and I think that wraps up the major headlines for this week. So hope you enjoyed it and have a great week.
