(00:00-23:30) – We open Carb Day with Derek Schultz hosting. He’s joined by JMV to start the show after he hosted the 10-12 power hour on the fan. Then, he gets into the latest on the Indiana Fever after the warning that was issued by the WNBA to the team.
(23:30-35:11) –Derek runs through the field as the final practice continues.
(35:11-45:49) – Jake joins Derek and they dive into why Carb Day means so much to them. Jake also opines on who looked the best and who everyone should be keeping an eye on heading into the race Sunay.
(45:49-1:12:20) – Jake had dinner with his now 2nd best friend, Peter Brady of the Brady Bunch, last night and tells us about it. They look at some of the history of the drivers in the field before reflecting the Pacers run a year ago. They both agree that the eastern conference playoffs have done nothing to change their feeling that Indiana will be back in title contention next year.
(1:12:20-1:24:24) – Former IndyCar driver Johnny Parsons Jr. Crashes the show. Jake asks him what is important to accomplish on the last day of practice. Jake also blows Johnny away with his knowledge of the names on the BorgWarner trophy. Johnny reflects on his dad and his racing career as well as what’s in store for him the rest of the week.
(1:24:24-1:34:29) – Jim Cornielson, who will sing back home again in Indiana before the race, makes his weekly Query & Company Carb Day appearance. He talks about the preparation for singing on race day and how the weather affects it. Plus, Jake tries to get him to sing along with the crowd.
(1:34:29-2:02:21) –Kate Shoup of Indianapolis Monthly joins the show. She talks about the book she wrote, Overtaken, which takes place at the Indy 500. They then get into the weather holding off enough for the wiener dog race to happen. Jake says he’s confident the race will be completed Sunday. Jake says all three Penske’s did well and why there’s no reason to think Alex Palou won’t be at the front of the pack. Derek offers thoughts on Buddy Lazier’s win in ‘96 after hearing his interview with Jake yesterday. JMV joins early for the crossover because he will need to move into the media center!
(2:02:21-2:10:24) - For the good for the heart Friday segment, Jake is joined by Doug from Wisconsin who is going to be Jake’s spotter for the race. Doug talks about his feelings being in Indy for the first time for the Indy 500.
