Big Sports Weekend Recap! Ed Carpenter, Dustin Dopirak, and Mike Chappell join!

(00:00-25:45) – Query & Company opens on a Monday with Jake Query, Jimmy Cook, and producer Eddie Garrison discussing their weekends. Jake also pays tribute to Pacers Sports & Entertainment after Vice Chairman of PS&E, Jim Morris, passed away last Friday. Jake highlights some of the important things that Morris did during his time with Pacers Sports and Entertainment. Additionally, they discuss the two big wins the Indiana Fever picked up since our last show over the Phoenix Mercury and Minnesota Lynx.

(25:45-43:50) – Penske Sports & Entertainment’s President and CEO, Mark Miles, joins Query & Company to share some of his favorite Jim Morris memories after his passing last Friday. Miles highlights their time together with the Indiana Sports Corporation, reveals what kind of leader he was when he trying to get the Indiana Sports Corp. up and running, shares everything that went on to bring the Pan American Games to Indianapolis in 1987, tries to envision what downtown Indianapolis would be like if Jim didn’t have the visions he did, and labels Morris as the architect of downtown Indianapolis.

(43:50-45:57) – Hour one concludes with Jake asking Jimmy discussing Jake’s weekend in Iowa for the IndyCar race. He shares his experience at the Luke Combs concert on Friday night.

(45:57-1:11:49) – Dustin Dopirak from the Indianapolis Star joins Query & Company with Jake Query & Jimmy Cook to discuss if he believes Tyrese Haliburton will have trouble turning the switch back on the be the main source of offense for the Pacers after his role as a facilitator for Team USA. Also, Dustin highlights what he has seen from Jarace Walker, Johnny Furphy, and Ben Sheppard in Summer League. Finally, he evaluates how the minutes have been allocated so far because there are a couple players that he wants to see but haven’t played yet.

(1:11:49-1:29:41) – Ed Carpenter joins Jake and Jimmy after the doubleheader in Iowa over the weekend where he voiced some frustrations about the beginning of the hybrid engine. He joins the show today to explain what he was expressing yesterday with his frustrations, explains how the hybrid engines could impact the fan engagement because of what the engine doesn’t allow drivers to do, and discusses his future in IndyCar as a driver.

(1:29:41-1:31:44) – Jake and Jimmy close out the second hour of the program with Jake’s mom providing an update on the piece of Jake’s closet that he wants to preserve.

(1:31:44-2:01:38) – The Dean, Mike Chappell, from CBS4 and FOX59 returns from his vacation to join Jake Query & Jimmy Cook to highlight some of the training camp storylines that stick out the most to him outside of Anthony Richardson’s health. Additionally, he highlights who the backup running back is right now behind Jonathan Taylor, assesses if the Colts could feature the tight ends early in the season to ease Richardson back into game action, and highlights how his trip to Hawaii went.

(2:01:38-2:11:55) – Jake and Jimmy come back from break discussing places that they have to attend if they are visiting a specific city. Also, Jake receives a text from Mark Miles about the whereabouts of the cauldron from the Pan American Games in 1987.

(2:11:55-2:16:15) – Today’s show ends with Jimmy sharing his JCook Plays of the Day, Eddie sharing a bet he likes, and JMV joining the guys in studio!
