Sammi Anderson on overcoming addiction and breast cancer to become a recovery advocate

View descriptionShare

Sammi Anderson (Chief Operations Officer at Meridian Outcome Enhancements) joins Casey Scott and Dr. Matt Woolley in this week's episode to open up about some of the struggles that she experienced growing up with a father who was addicted to alcohol, dealing with depression at the age of thirteen, and why she feels that drugs saved her life when she was a teenager.

Then Sammi shares her descent into addiction throughout her twenties, being in and out of the criminal system due to her drug abuse, and what pushed her to finally get the treatment she needed to get sober.

Sammi also opens up about being diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer while in recovery, the ways that her diagnosis helped reinforce her recovery, and how she's rebuilt her relationship with her father over the years.

Lastly, we dive into what recovery looks like for Sammi after finding sobriety.
