Kicking off the Season 4 premiere of Pretty Private with Eboné is the Spooky Series, featuring licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Lana Holmes.

Dr. Holmes explores the surprising connection between horror, fear, and mental health. Growing up watching scary movies, she learned to experience fear without immediately avoiding it, reminding herself that what she was seeing wasn’t real.

Today, she incorporates horror and pop culture into her work with clients to explore trauma, anxiety, and emotional responses.

Could the movies that scare us actually teach us something about how we face fear in real life?
