Amberley Harris, our wonderful breastfeeding expert and endorsed midwife, is today going to teach us about how to manage when things don’t go to plan.

It is all well and good to learn about the natural and normal parts of breastfeeding, but we know that for a lot of women this is not the journey they will experience. Breastfeeding can be hard, oh so hard. And I want to make sure we don’t set women up to fail by not helping them understand the ways in which breastfeeding can go astray and the strategies you may need to help pull it back on track.

Mastitis and the best ways to manage it
Why you don’t always need to run to get antibiotics if you suspect you have mastitis
Milk supply issues, specifically low supply and why pumping volumes or frequent feeds are not great indicators of milk volume
The 4 things you should be assessing to work out whether you have adequate milk supply
Nipple pain and damage
Whether lactation cookies and teas are worth your money
Whether you should prepare your nipples for breastfeeding
