Host Peter McCully welcomes Mike Garland to the PQBeat Podcast. Garland was recently hired as the new executive Director of the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Garland talks about the business walk which is planned for April 11th, 12th and 13th. It is intended to allow one-on-one discussions with political representatives and business owners.
‘We're going to have some local councilors from Qualicum Beach getting a bit of a feedback from the actual owners. The next day, April12th, MLA Adam Walker will be coming around and he too will be visiting, and again, a different perspective looking at things that perhaps he can do from a provincial level. On the very final day, April 13th, we're going to have MP Gord Johns, so he too will be coming to visit with the owners.’
In a wide-ranging interview Garland talks about some of the events that will be back in full swing for the summer of 2023, as well as the need for volunteers for some seasonal events.
A portable kiosk is planned for the town to go to the visitors this coming summer, says Garland.
‘This portable kiosk will allow us to bring all sorts of literature, people with experience and stories right to those visitors who are visiting our downtown core’.
Garland also explains to podcast host Peter McCully, about the various benefits of being a chamber member.
