Last week the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), recommended that the president suspend two judges, Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela and Judge Nomonde Mngqibisa-Thusi immediately, for failing to deliver their judgments on time. The judges are said to have dozens of outstanding judgements which are way beyond the time limits prescribed by judicial norms and standards that judgements must be handed down within three months. Complaints against Judge Maumela, who is the presiding judge of the Senzo Meyiwa case, involves 12 judgements which have been outstanding from 24 to 26 months.
