As of January 2026, Neuralink Corporation has expanded its human clinical trials significantly: the company now reports 21 participants worldwide enrolled in studies of its implantable brain-computer interface (BCI), an increase from 12 reported in late 2025. These implants are being tested in people with conditions such as spinal cord injuries to help them control digital and physical devices using neural activity alone. Early outcomes include at least one participant using the implant to play video games, browse the internet, post on social media, and move a laptop cursor purely through thought-based control.
