Former President Ian Khama of Botswana made a surprise return to his home country after nearly three years of self-imposed exile in South Africa. His arrival coincides with the lead-up to the upcoming general elections scheduled for October. Upon returning, Khama unexpectedly appeared in court to address charges related to unlawful possession of firearms, which had resulted in an arrest warrant issued against him in December 2022.
