View descriptionShare

A recent study by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) reveals a concerning trend: public trust in the South African Police Service (SAPS) has reached an all-time low.  According to round 21 of the HSRC's South African Social Attitudes Survey (SASAS), trust in the police has declined significantly over the past two decades, with only 22% of citizens expressing trust in the police in 2022, with the 2023 and 2024/25 confidence levels almost unchanged. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is in conversation with Senior Research Specialist in the Developmental, Capable and Ethical State (DCES) research division of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), Dr. Sterve Gordon, Security Strategist and Former Ambassador Interpol, Andy Mashaile and Crime Expert, Prof. Jacob Mofokeng.
