As humanity enters the 21st Century where our very survival is being challenged, understanding, and honoring where we come from is becoming increasingly important. South Africa hosts a vast array of heritage artifacts such as historic buildings, rock art sites, archaeological sites, and battlefield landscapes etc. all of which are under potential threat of decay and neglect to the point of dereliction. In this edition of the Thought Council, we particularly focus our attention on the preservation of our political heritage as a country and reference the work of the Fort Hare Liberation Movement Archives, Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Photography Legacy Project.
