The United States is withdrawing some personnel from bases in the Middle East, a U.S. official said on Wednesday, after a senior Iranian official said Tehran had warned neighbours it would hit American bases if Washington strikes. With Iran's leadership trying to put down the worst domestic unrest the Islamic Republic has ever faced, Tehran is seeking to deter U.S. President Donald Trump's repeated threats to intervene on behalf of anti-government protesters.  Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is in conversation with International Relations Expert, Dr Oscar Van Heerden.

South Africa’s joint naval drills with China and Russia have reignited significant debate at home and abroad, particularly against the backdrop of strained relations with the United States and growing global geopolitical tensions. The exercises, held off South Africa’s southern coastline near Simon’s Town and False Bay, are officially described by the South African government and defence authorities as routine military cooperation aimed at improving maritime security, search-and-rescue capabilities, and interoperability between participating navies. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is in conversation with Defence Analyst, Rciardo Texeira and International Relations Expert, Dr Kingsley Makhubela.
