South Africa may be captivated by the British royals, but they aren't the only monarchies that merit discussion.

The continent is home to many monarchies as well. Out of all the 54 countries, only 3 countries are ruled by monarchs. Most monarchs have partially or completely lost their political power.

So that begs the question, are monarchs outdated or still relevant?
