Dignity SA has officially launched a legal challenge in the North Gauteng High Court, aiming to decriminalise medical assistance in dying. During a media briefing in Cape Town, the organisation—alongside other interested parties—announced that it is seeking a Constitutional Court ruling to declare current laws prohibiting assisted dying unconstitutional and invalid. The Minister emphasised that the new draft curriculum is designed to move away from parochialism and exceptionalism. Instead, it seeks to cultivate a global historical consciousness in learners, framed specifically from an African perspective. Mondli Makhanya spoke to Hendrick Makaneta, Education Activist.
