On 15 December, a South African Ambassador to Morocco, Edris Ebrahim, packed his bags to return home in Pretoria after unsuccessfully attempting to improve relations with Morocco. Diplomatic relations between South Africa and the Kingdom of Morocco were formally established in 1991 when a South African Interest Office opened in Rabat on 2 September 1991.
