Since the beginning of the pandemic the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has reported on various irregularities in the use of fund allocations to departments, one of which involved the former Gauteng health MEC, Dr. Masuku and recently health minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize. The SIU has since declared the EC health department's R10 million scooter ambulance tender unlawful.
