South Africa has welcomed the recent approval by the U.S. House of Representatives to renew the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) for three more years. The United States is withdrawing some personnel from bases in the Middle East, a U.S. official said on Wednesday, after a senior Iranian official said Tehran had warned neighbours it would hit American bases if Washington strikes.
