South Africa is currently buckling with water-scarcity, with demand outweighing supply. Added to the list, are the audits of wastewater treatment plants which show that 100 plants in the country are so poorly run that they pose a serious risk to public health and the environment. The Department of Water and Sanitation says over 60% of water supply systems in the country do not meet water quality standards.
