Fentanyl, a potent lab-made opioid painkiller, has recently been detected in South Africa, raising concerns about the potential for a growing drug crisis. This substance, which has been at the center of the opioid epidemic in the United States, is now reportedly appearing in several regions of South Africa, including the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
