South Africa’s Police minister, Senzo Mchunu has confirmed that he has disbanded the police task team set up to investigate suspected political killings in KwaZulu-Natal. He says it is no longer necessary because it’s not adding value to policing in the province. The task team was established following the recommendations of the Moerane Commission of Inquiry. Mchunu has also instructed National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola to halt all processes to fill positions in Crime Intelligence nationally and provincially.
