Poaching at KZN flagship rhino reserve has dropped significantly following an emergency rhino dehorning programme. On average, 26 rhinos were killed each month last year at the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve. The killings have dropped to single-digit figures after an emergency dehorning programme. Across the country, rhino poaching dipped in the first quarter of the year after the government started the dehorning programme in April.
