June 16 is a historic day in South Africa. It’s a day where Murphy Morobe led the students of Soweto in their famous but deadly protest against inferior apartheid education. He ended up at John Vorster after six months on the run. In the 1980s, Morobe served in more than a half-dozen jails or prisons, including Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela served as his mentor. Despite his imprisonment, he did not break. Murphy Morobe about the state of the country 28 years after it transitioned from apartheid rule to democracy.
