Dignity SA has officially launched a legal challenge in the North Gauteng High Court, aiming to decriminalise medical assistance in dying. During a media briefing in Cape Town, the organisation—alongside other interested parties—announced that it is seeking a Constitutional Court ruling to declare current laws prohibiting assisted dying unconstitutional and invalid. Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube commended the History Ministerial Task Team (MTT) for its significant progress during a briefing to the Portfolio Committee. The Minister emphasised that the new draft curriculum is designed to move away from parochialism and exceptionalism. Instead, it seeks to cultivate a global historical consciousness in learners, framed specifically from an African perspective. Mondli Makhanya spoke to Hendrick Makaneta, Education Activist.
