Shareholder and chief group advisor at Ntiyiso Consulting Group Miyelani Holeni says it should be a reality for municipalities to be in a profitable position. 

Speaking on POWER Talk with Aldrin Sampear on Monday Holeni says municipalities can't continue to run on deficits and bailouts. 

There are 278 municipalities in South Africa, with eight metropolitans, 226 local municipalities and 44 district municipalities. In recent years the auditor general report has suggested that most of them are in crisis. Last year eight municipalities were put under administration in the North West.
