The Gauteng government has made a significant investment in supporting international artists. Over the past five financial years, the government has spent a total of R16.64 million to support nine major festivals that featured international artists. Lerato Mbele spoke to Nomazwe Ntlokwana, head of comms for the Gauteng provincial department of sports, arts and culture, Vusi Leeuw who is the president of the South African Music Industry Council and Percy Mabandu, art historian and journalist.
