The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has officially touched down in KwaZulu-Natal to begin critical groundwork ahead of the 2026 local government elections. Addressing Parliament’s Home Affairs Committee, the commission highlighted that the road to the polls is paved with significant logistical and administrative hurdles that must be addressed well in advance to ensure a smooth democratic process.
