I will support Eskom if they install solar panels to provide the residents of Soweto with electricity. This is according to Soweto electricity crisis committee organizer Zodwa Madiba.
“I support Eskom by saying they must install the solar panel so people can get electricity from the sun,”
In a statement released by Eskom on Monday, the utility says Soweto residents now owe more than R 18 billion in unpaid electricity bill.
This is an R3 billion increase in over a period of just 12 months.
She was in conversation with Aldrin Sampear on POWER Talk on Tuesday.
Also part of the conversation was Eskom senior operation and maintenance manager Daphne Mokwena and former general manager of the utility in Gauteng Bandile Jack.
