Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition John Steenhuisen joins us following the opening of the 2026 Manufacturing Indaba to discuss government’s plans to strengthen local manufacturing, attract investment, expand exports and accelerate Africa’s reindustrialisation through increased “Made in Africa” production.

The City of Cape Town has welcomed the findings of a Public Protector report into complaints relating to housing, basic services and public health facilities, saying the investigation recognises the work already undertaken by the municipality while also directing National Treasury and the Department of Human Settlements to address broader systemic challenges. We speak to the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, about the findings, service delivery improvements and what residents can expect going forward.
