The Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities has expressed serious concern regarding the persistent barriers South African women face when attempting to access the justice system. The department warns that these ongoing legal hurdles do more than just deny rights; they actively stifle economic participation, creating a cycle of exclusion that prevents women from fully engaging in the country’s economy.
