His victory places him at the helm of the nation’s second-largest party during a high-stakes era, as the organisation balances its current role in the Government of National Unity with its ambitions for future dominance. Hill-Lewis secured the position by defeating Gauteng challenger Sibusiso Dyonase, successfully overcoming Dyonase’s late-stage, ambitious campaign.
