Amnesty International South Africa says adolescent pregnancy is a social health and economic issue affecting children in South Africa. According to the report, all corners of society must act quickly to end the crisis. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of adolescents and young girls becoming pregnant. Researchers found that between April 2017 and September 2021, the number of births to young girls and adolescents between 10 and 14 years of age increased by 48.7%.
