Busi Lurayi was a South African actress best known for her starring role as Phumzile on the SABC1 sitcom City Ses'la and its spin-off series Ses'Top La. In 2020, Lurayi starred as the disruptive Tumi in Netflix’s How to Ruin Christmas: The Wedding, which was made in South Africa. Throughout the series, Lurayi’s character messes up the plans for her sister’s (Thando Thabe) picture-perfect wedding before trying to make things right. She reprised the role in 2021 for the show’s second season, How to Ruin Christmas: The Funeral. Prior to her work with Netflix, Lurayi starred in the second season of the British drama series Wild at Heart, about a family who relocates from the U.K. to South Africa.
