Build One South Africa (BOSA) operates as a South African political party under the leadership of Mmusi Maimane, who also leads the One SA Movement. Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster, the founder and convener of the South African Women’s Commission, serves as the deputy leader. The party is chaired by Mkhuseli Jack, the current deputy mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay. Established on September 24, 2022, in Naledi, Soweto, BOSA participated in its inaugural by-election in October 2023, securing 1% of the vote in the ward one election in Sol Plaatje Local Municipality. In preparation for the 2024 general elections, BOSA positions itself as an "umbrella organisation" for independent candidates. Mmusi Maimane is slated to stand as the party's presidential candidate, marking a significant stride in the party's political trajectory. He joins Lerato Mbele for the conversation.
