In August President Cyril Ramaphosa launched the Sanitation Appropriate for Education (Safe) initiative while the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (Asidi) was launched over seven years ago. This after two children drowned after falling into pit latrines in recent years. Ramaphosa noted government’s failure to deliver services.
