Since its inception, Afrikaans has been weighed down with various negative connotations, such as “colonial language”, “language of the oppressor” and “white man’s language”. Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi was joined by Producer and co-writer of the critically acclaimed film, Barakat: First South African film in Cape Town's Afrikaans dialect, Ephraim Gordon.
