In this episode of the Powerful Stories Podcast, Alice Hampton comes to us from her designer wardrobe in Chicago.  She is an Australian girl who followed her dream to live and work in America.  Not many women make it to the top of their game but she did it, not once but multiple times. We gain insight into what led her on this path and how did she made it happen. ‘Growing up we had no money – but what I did have was a mother who believed in me.’ Set yourself small bite-sized goals along the way and then just be the best version you can be.

Leading a global team, dealing with multiple time zones can be tough not only in business but in your personal life and body. Although Alice was delivering results beyond everyone’s expectations and seemed to have it all together, it was not always the case. ‘After my second miscarriage my husband said to me – ‘you have to put yourself first – it is an important realisation all women have to have.’ Alice shares how it felt to take a step back and resign from corporate life. ‘It was like the twilight zone. I was not working and totally ok with it, but then I had to find my new identity’ says Alice.

Last year, during the 2020 pandemic, Alice had ‘time out’ from life as a corporate warrior and created her own destiny with the launch of ACP Management. She is now managing some of the biggest social media stars in the US. She shares how she met Kat and Mike the TikTok superstars. ‘Our paths crossed and I could just see the talent.’ Kat and Mike have gone from zero followers to over 5 million in only 6 months! So, what makes a social media star? ‘You have to have a point of difference that sets you apart and looking at them as a brand.’

Alice’s tip for building a social media presence - ‘When your social following is small it is important to respond to all your comments within 24 hours – but if you’re a celebrity that is another level of pressure. It is something I am very passionate about – there is a good side to it and also a dark side to it. That is talent management, and protecting my client’s privacy is a part of it.’

Tory’s daughter Bella was impressed that a married couple in Chicago got over 5.5M hits to their personal TikTok account. Alice walks her talk and says ‘The number one thing is that you have the be authentic. Social media is rife with disingenuous content. One of my biggest pet-peeves is the fake followers – be you and be true.’ says Alice.
