A 2022 study by the Human Science Research Council (HSRC) reveals alarming statistics about gender-based violence in South Africa. Over 20.5% of men admitted to perpetrating physical and sexual abuse, while more than 50% of women reported experiencing psychological abuse. Conducted with over 10,000 participants from 1,000 communities, the study highlighted the widespread nature of violence, including emotional, economic, and sexual victimization.
