The rate of drinking in South Africa continues to  elevate drastically. It was in fact Verwoed's strategy during Apartheid to allow black people to buy alcohol - after they were banned. He said "they will become good for nothings." Another example In the Cape, farmers paid workers with alcohol instead of cash. We are in conversation with Political analyst, Thamsanqa Malinga as we track back to how alcohol was as an apartheid tool.
